The Best English Teaching Jobs Around the World

This is another guest post from Sharon over at TEFL-Tips, which is a site that I might even venture to say is more helpful than this one (!) and you should check it out if you haven't done so already. The Best TEFL Jobs in the World

At the beginning of 2014, I started to post a list of the best TEFL jobs around the world. I choose these jobs based on money and here are the reasons why I did that. It’s true that money isn't everything so I have another list of popular countries around the world that you might consider teaching in if money isn't your main motivation: Best Countries to Teach English In.

I like organizing information and looking for good jobs is one of my hobbies. By posting a list of some of the best jobs around the world, I hope to let teachers know that there really are well-paying TEFL jobs out there. Here are some of the places I would recommend teaching in:

Brunei

The small country of Brunei has many perks for teachers. The good location and safety also help draw teachers there. The Best TEFL Jobs in Brunei

China

China is an up-and-coming TEFL destination. While Korea and Japan are becoming saturated with TEFL teachers, China is a huge country meaning that there’s less competition. Columbia

Korea

I really enjoyed putting together my list of the best TEFL jobs around the world. I have posts coming out this month about teacher self-evaluations, the salary myth, online doctorates, and mid-term student evals over at TEFL-Tips. I’ve been TEFLing for 12 years and blogging for about 7. It’s neat to see how much the TEFL community has changed during this time. I plan on teaching for many more years and I’m excited to see what the future brings.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Peru

TEFL in Peru

This is a guest post from Sharon over at TEFL-Tips. Her site is an excellent resource for anyone teaching ESL Abroad, or for those considering it as a career. Teaching ESL in Peru is something that I really have no idea about, so I was happy for her to write this post and offer us some helpful information and resources. Thanks Sharon and without further ado, here's all the goodness:

I started TEFLing in early 2003 in China. At that time, Dave's ESL Cafe was the end-all for TEFL information, especially  the forums which were particularly helpful. About a year and a half later, in the summer of 2004 I moved to Peru to teach at a university there. While many people had taught in China, few people had taught in Peru and I quickly became the go-to person for information about teaching English there.  I also joined the forum at Expat Peru and helped people to learn about Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Peru, as well as visa information.

I kept telling people the same information over and over and decided that the best thing to do would be to start a blog and then I could just link to it when people had questions. In early 2008, I started the Ultimate Peru List. Although I left Peru in early 2010, I still have ties there and I actually became a Peruvian citizen in 2009.
